Airport Security

If you're like most of my friends, then you're a last-minute packer. Many of my friends won't pack until the night before they leave. They rarely check the airport or baggage requirements and usually end up forgetting something important (in one friend's case, his passport) or bringing something disallowed by the airport security, like bottled water in their hand luggage.
It's wise to check an airport's security standards and check-in recommendations in advance. This way, you can avoid certain things that may cause you delay or hassle.
Many airports no longer allow more than 100 ml of any liquid in your carry-on or hand luggage. It's also recommended to put all of these liquids into a single, clear zip-lock bag before you get to the airport. Flammable liquids or items, like nail polish, should also be removed from your hand luggage.
Being aware of the safety procedures of an airport can be useful in deciding what to wear to the airport as well. Some airports require that you remove your shoes and any metal objects for inspection. With this in mind, you can dress accordingly by wearing shoes that are easily removed and perhaps bringing socks to avoid walking barefoot on the cold floor. Avoid wearing excessive jewellery or unnecessary metal objects, which can set off the metal detectors and alarms.
The best way to ensure that your preflight experience is relaxed and stress-free is to arrive early. Aim to arrive at least 2 - 2.5 hours before your flight. Check the specific airline and airport guidelines, as the recommended check-in time may vary for domestic and international flights. Lastly, always check the security procedures for both your departure and arrival airports, as what may be allowed at one airport could possibly be prohibited at another.
