Several airlines are now allowing passengers to travel with their pets in the cabin. Different airlines have different rules and regulations surrounding the issue. Generally, the pet must be small enough to fit in a certified pet carrier that would fit under the owner's seat. Otherwise, the pet must travel below the cabin with the rest of the luggage.
Although nearly all US airlines have allowed service animals - such as seeing eye dogs - in the cabin, there has been some controversy and debate regarding the issue. Some travelers love the idea of being with their pet while they fly so that the experience isn't so traumatic and stressful for them. On the other hand, there are tons of travelers allergic to pet dander, others who are annoyed by barking and other who can't stand the smell of animals.
Both sides make valid points. What do you think about allowing pets in the cabin?
