There's No Place Like Home

As Christmas nears and the year comes to a close, I like take this time to reflect on family and loved ones and the roles they've played in helping me get through another year. No matter how far or how often I travel, I am always glad to return my family.
Travelling around the world can be a life altering experience, but it's the smaller moments in life, like going home for Christmas or ringing in the New Year with that special someone which makes it all worth it. Hectic shopping malls, blizzards, and an unsolicited influx of fruit cake may not be some convincing reasons to come home this holiday season, but when it comes to Christmas time there really is no place like home, wherever that may be.
Snuggling under a warm blanket, sipping hot chocolate as your favourite aunt tells embarrassing stories about your parents when they were younger: priceless. Eating as many baked goods and treats as you want; planning and justifying a 5 lb weight gain because of the holiday season: even more priceless.
Whether you are travelling abroad or spending time at home this holiday season, I'd like to wish you all a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. If you can't be home this Christmas, a phone call to your loved ones or a postcard can be as warm as a hug in person. Take care and I look forward to sharing more travel tips and experiences with you in the coming year!
