Post-Vacation: How to Readjust to Your Life

We've all heard the sayings "what goes up, must come down" and "all good things come to an end." Going on vacation is the easy part; the part that most people struggle with is the coming back. And why wouldn't they? After a blissful 2 weeks spent not working, relaxing, and spending frivolously, returning to our normal routines can be a stressful ordeal.
How do you avoid the unpleasant phenomenon of Re-Entry Shock? The answer to this question can be different for everyone, but here are a few suggestions that have certainly helped me to get resettled into my life following a vacation that I hoped would never end.
- Mentally prepare yourself for your return. It's hard, but a day or two before your trip ends, remind yourself of all the things that you miss about your home and focus on the positive things that you will do when you get back.
- Plan to return at a time when you have a couple days off work. This means that if you don't work weekends, then try to come back on a Friday. You'll have the whole weekend to rest and recuperate before heading back to work.
- Do something nice for yourself once you return. Save some of your vacation money to treat yourself to something special when you return. This could be something small like a movie or dinner with a friend or something luxurious, like a spa service.
Feel free to share any other tips that usually help you to ease back into your life when you return from a fabulous trip.
